When to test
When to test
The sample must be collected in the morning, before 11:30 am on Monday to Thursday, and returned on the same day on selected pick-up points or by arranging a home collection until 12:00 am.
The interpretation of the test result must be analyzed especially in the case of people who have been taking hormonal therapies in the last few months, as the results may be affected. The use of medications containing steroids can also somehow affect the results obtained.
Who should get tested
- Anyone who wants to know about their hormonal health should be tested for female hormones;
- Women who are thinking about getting pregnant;
- An unbalanced result in the hormonal balance can have causes such as: Obesity, stress, thyroid problems, the onset of menopause or menopause, primary ovarian failure.
What does it measure:
FSH
The pituitary gland in the brain produces a hormone called Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) that plays a vital role in the development and maturation of ovarian follicles, ovulation, and the menstrual cycle. As we get older, our baseline FSH levels tend to rise due to a decrease in ovarian reserve, and a higher amount of FSH is needed to stimulate ovarian function. A normal FSH level may suggest that someone who ovulates has an adequate number of eggs for their reproductive stage.
LH
Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a hormone produced by cells in the pituitary gland (a gland located at the base of the brain). In women, LH is responsible for stimulating the ovary to release an egg during the menstrual cycle, a process known as ovulation. Changes in LH concentration can be indicative of health problems such as ovulatory dysfunction, pituitary problems, or thyroid problems.
